As Nigeria begins to wrap up the Centenary activities, this
great nation is preparing for the biggest event of the century, “Nigeria: A
Nation United”. On January 1st 1914, Nigeria’s journey to nationhood
commenced when the Northern and Southern Protectorates were amalgamated into
one country by the colonial authorities....
As Nigeria celebrates 100 years - we are celebrating a
journey underlined by a determination to excel and remain united as a strong
indivisible entity. The Federal Government of Nigeria has directed that the
celebrations be brought to a close in February 2014, with a grand ceremony,
telling our unique story to the world.
With over a thousand (1000+) cast and crew members
from all over Nigeria, this story would feature state of the art technology,
props and choreography on a canvass dominated by a unique stage, custom built
to mirror our nation’s geography. It would be a fascinating night of history
and spectacle, ending in a blazing display of fireworks.
Watch as history unfolds at The Abuja National Stadium on
the 27th February 2014 at 6pm where there will be a pre-concert,
followed by a spectacular Multimedia Show and Fireworks display. Official MCs
for the night are Ike Osakioduwa and Funke Akindele who will launch the

Good news seems to be falling at the

International Act at the Black
Canadians Awards.
And now, Waje has again been

BREAKING: Skales bows out of EME as contract expires
I just got this report from NET reporters..(read report below)
Nigerian rapper Skales has parted ways
with record label, Empire Mates
Entertainment (EME) following the
expiration of his contract a few weeks
ago.
The popular label which signed Skales in
2010 has decided not to extend their
initial three-year contract with the
rapper.
NET reached out to EME boss Banky W
who has confirmed the development.
‘Yes it’s true’, Banky told our reporter
over the phone.
Both parties have met and reached an
agreement, an inside source told NET
tonight.
We’re told EME decided not to renew its
deal with Skales because they feel it may
no longer be a profitable venture.
According to those familiar with the
current situation at the Lagos label, the
large part of that decision was made,
based on the fact that the direction of
Skales’ music has considerably changed
since he was signed.
‘EME signed Skales as a rapper back then
with Wizkid; the plan was to mould him
into one of the biggest HipHop acts in
Nigeria, you know something like a
younger M.I’, a source close to both
parties tells us.
It wasn’t long until Wizkid blew in 2011
and the EME trio of Banky, Wizzy and
Skales went on several tours – that’s
when Skales style of music began to
change, morphing him into a more Pop
act.
‘Skales wanted to change, them Banky
wouldn’t allow it but he was insistent. He
saw how Wizkid was getting love and so
he was pressured to do Pop music rather
than rap’.
In November 2011, Skales released his
first official single off the label titled
‘ Mukulu’, which saw him ditch his Hip-
Hop sound for Pop music.
‘It’s not like he was great at it but Skales
was so determined to do the kind of
music Wizzy does. Banky and co didn’t
want to stop him so they let him run with
it, in fact they supported him all the way’.
EME shot four different solo videos for
Skales – ‘ Mukulu’, ‘ Komole ’, ‘ My baby ’,
and ‘ Take of care of me ’.
‘They’ve spent millions on him and
haven’t gotten anything back.
Signing a
new deal with him won’t be smart of
them to do. I can’t blame them’.
But another source argues that EME have
nobody but themselves to blame for the
situation.
‘If they signed Skales as a
rapper why didn’t they insist that he keep
on that path?’.
NET investigations reveal that while
Skales has left the label, he is still quite
determined about his music career as he
plans to release his long awaited debut
‘All of the Above’.
The 21-year-old Edo
State-born, Kaduna State raised youngster
is currently working with M.et.al
Management , the same talent company
that discovered him and got him the EME
deal in 2010. M.et.al is strongly affiliated
with EME.
Skales recently released a new song ‘ Very
soon ’ where he details his issues with
EME;
‘…Even the click wey I dey, they
tolerate me, they say I too scatter, dem
need to co-ordinate me/dem sey dem no
like my style, money no dey enter to
make them smile, everyday controversy
just dey pile/I never make even though
I’ve been here for a while’, Skales raps.
The rapper has removed EME from his
official Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
pages. He recently tweeted about having
a ‘new hustle’, ‘new team’, ‘new life’ and
having a ‘fresh start’.
NET has also learnt that EME has planned
a ‘package’ for the rapper to make things
easy as he starts a new chapter in his
career. ‘They got him some money to run
his own team, that’s the best they could
do, they are still cool’.
All attempts to reach Skales proved
abortive as his manager Osagie
Osarenkhoe of M.et.al has not
responded to our calls or replied our text
messages. Skales has also refused to
respond to our text messages or pick up
our calls.
EME in February 2013 faced a similar
situation when a prized act at the
label Wizkid threatened to walk out of his
contract . He later reconciled with the
label, honouring his contract.
Skales isn’t the only one who’s parted
ways with his label in recent times; the
likes of Pop singer Wande Coal (formerly
with Mavin Records) and Jesse Jagz
(formerly with Chocolate City ) have in
the past few months left the labels too.
EME is now home to only label head and
R&B singer Banky W, Pop singers Wizkid,
Shaydee, disc jockey DJ Xclusive and
rising female artiste Niyola.

of the Financial Reporting Council of
Nigeria and other investigating
bodies, which indicate clearly that
Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s
tenure has been characterized by
various acts of financial recklessness
and misconduct which are
inconsistent with the
administration’s vision of a Central
Bank propelled by the core values of
focused economic management,
prudence, transparency and financial
discipline;
Being also deeply concerned about
far-reaching irregularities under
Mallam Sanusi’s watch which have
distracted the Central Bank away
from the pursuit and achievement of
its statutory mandate; and
Being determined to urgently re-
position the Central Bank of Nigeria
for greater efficiency, respect for due
process and accountability, President
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has ordered
the immediate suspension of Mallam
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from the Office
of Governor of the Central Bank of
Nigeria.
President Jonathan has further
ordered that Mallam Sanusi should
hand over to the most senior Deputy
Governor of the CBN, Dr Sarah Alade
who will serve as Acting Governor
until the conclusion of on-going
investigations into breaches of
enabling laws, due process and
mandate of the CBN.
The President expects that as Acting
Governor of the Central Bank, Dr.
Alade will focus on the core mandate
of the Bank and conduct its affairs
with greater professionalism,
prudence and propriety to restore
domestic and international

In what could be called social networking
giant’s biggest acquisition to date,
Facebook is purchasing WhatsApp for
$19bn.
WhatsApp has more than 450 million
monthly users and is popular with people
looking to avoid text messaging charges.
"In a statement announcing the deal,
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg
described WhatsApp’s services as
“incredibly valuable”.
The deal to buy it includes $4bn in cash
and approximately $12 billion worth of
Facebook shares, plus an additional $3
billion in stock to WhatsApp’s founders
and employees at a later date.
Prior to this acquisition, Facebook’s
biggest buy had been Instagram for $1bn
in 2012.
It had also reportedly offered $3bn to

CALIFORNIA-BASED Camerounian singer, Dencia, has appealed for support
towards her charity moves.Not quite long after she claimed that she
earned more than a milliondollars from the sales of her product,
Whitenicious, without adverts, she put smiles on the facesof some
motherless babies in her home town in Cameroon.
The artiste, who was in Cameroon this month, shared cash, clothes and bags for the running of an orphanage.Shortly after, she tweeted: “So, I landed in Cameroun on February 10and left three days after. But I wanted to visit an orphanage beforeleaving. Luckily for me, there’s one close to the place, where I will be building my own. I went to get the work started. When I got to this orphanage, I was so heart-broken. Icould barely speak after I prayed with the kids. I have helped people, but I have never gone to see the situation.“The lady, who owns this place, has bought the piece of land next to it, but doesn’t have money. I want to help her and I want anyone who can to help these kids to contact me, as I will be returning to Cameroon in the first week of March

Decomposed body of kidnapped ex-Super Eagle’s father found in Anambra
The decomposed body of 80-year-old Chief James Iloenyosi from
Abagana, Anambra State, was found in the bush by the State Police
Command yesterday.
Pa Iloenyosi, who was kidnapped bygunmen three days before his birthday, was the father of former Super Eagles player, Chikelue Iloenyosi, who played professional football in France and Turkey.
Although, according to the State Police Commissioner, Usman Gwary, the command would not want anything that could jeopardiseinvestigations, four of the suspects had been arrested for the kidnap of the late Iloenyosi.
The Octogenarian’s family was planning his 80th birthday bash for November 28, 2013, but the hoodlums stormed his house on the November 25 and whisked him away.When the information flew out, the State Police Command deployed over 700 policemen to comb every the nook and cranny of the state in search of the man, but all to no avail.The family was also made to part with N1.5 million naira as ransom by his abductors which they declared insufficient before the man died.One of the daughters of the deceased and a well known politician, Hajia Chinyere Oguguo-Agagbo, was all tears yesterday andcould not be consoled by the husband, Okpoka Agagbo, and relations.She was reigning causes on the people who perpetrated the act, imploring God to show the wicked that he was in control of the universe.
Two of the suspects, who were shielded from reporters by security qperatives in order not to derail investigations, confessed to have kidnapped the man in November 25, 2015.One of them (name withheld) told The Nation yesterday that when they collected the money and told the family to bring more, they did not know that the man would die in the custody.
He said, when he gave up the ghost,they carried the corpse to Nneyi village in Umueri community wherethey dumped him in the bush.

Horrible: Suspected cultist kills pastor’s wife for refusing to be raped
A woman in Ondo has lost her life after being attacked by a suspected cultist who hacked her to death witha machete.
55-year-old Eunice Ajayi is said to have died after refusing to be rapedby her attacker, identified simply as Jerry.
Her actions infuriated the 25-year-old man, described as a cultist and a dropout, leading him to fatally injure the deceased, a pastor’s wife.
Vanguardreports:
The suspected killer was said to have been rusticated from two institutions in the state for being a member of a secret cult.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that the deceased was hacked to death on the ill fated day when she refused to be raped by the suspect who is now on the run.
The deceased husband who rushed to the scene to save his dying wife was also macheted by the suspect and is presently hospitalised.
Eyewitness account informed Vanguard that alleged killer visited the house of the Pastor located at Peace-land Road, along the Expressway in Akure metropolis and attempted to rape the deceased.
Jerry who has been eyeing the woman reportedly came that day with the sole purpose of having his way but the Pastor’s wife resisted.

Contacted the Police image maker Wole Ogodo said that the suspect isstill on the run and that he would soon be tracked down and prosecuted.
Ogodo said that “ we discovered that the suspect attempted to rape the deceased because her pant was half-removed by the suspect, later our men visited the house of Jerry but he has fled.“Investigation has commenced on the matter and we have put all necessary machinery in place to apprehend him and bring him to justice.
”Ogodo said that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at themortuary of the State Specialists Hospital in Akure.
55-year-old Eunice Ajayi is said to have died after refusing to be rapedby her attacker, identified simply as Jerry.
Her actions infuriated the 25-year-old man, described as a cultist and a dropout, leading him to fatally injure the deceased, a pastor’s wife.

The suspected killer was said to have been rusticated from two institutions in the state for being a member of a secret cult.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that the deceased was hacked to death on the ill fated day when she refused to be raped by the suspect who is now on the run.
The deceased husband who rushed to the scene to save his dying wife was also macheted by the suspect and is presently hospitalised.
Eyewitness account informed Vanguard that alleged killer visited the house of the Pastor located at Peace-land Road, along the Expressway in Akure metropolis and attempted to rape the deceased.
Jerry who has been eyeing the woman reportedly came that day with the sole purpose of having his way but the Pastor’s wife resisted.

Ebube Nwagbo Denies Moving into Kcee’s House ..Says He’s a Married Man
Yesterday, news broke out that
Nollywood actress Ebube Nwagbo has
moved in with her ex-boyfriend,
Limpopo crooner Kcee. But when she
was contacted on telephone by
Vanguard to confirm the story, Ebube
denied the allegation, insisting that
she's still living in her house in the
mainland.
“I am in my house in the
mainland. I didn’t move into
Kcee’s house in Lekki. He is a
married
man. Let’s stop all these
misleading stories. I am currently
on set,” she reacted.
Ebube Nwagbo and the ‘Limpopo’
crooner used to be an item before the
latter ended their relationship in 2010
when he got married to his wife,
Ijeoma. Kcee's marriage to Ijeoma who
has kids for him, however, crashed later on.

Want to know what's going on between Flavour and Dillish Mathews?
BBA 2013 winner Dillish appeared in Flavour's Ikworikwo video last year but that was strictly professional. Flavour even paid for her appearance. Then they became friends. Then she broke up with her boyfriend. Then she came for a movie in Port Harcourt. Then she came to Lagos to visit. Then she had dinner with Flavour. Then she spent the night in his house. OK, pause! I said his house, not his room..lol. Flavour has a big house in Chevron Estate, Lekki which he bought in November 2013 (Flavour pictured in front of his house above...the pic on the right is Flavour and Dillish in his compound) so she could have slept in any room. Upon alighting from the plane, Darey
proceeded to give her a welcome to
Nigeria hug, after which he helped her

laughter.

Beyonce organised a birthday gig for
