Scrapping Amnesty Programme Would Lead To Crisis In Niger Delta – Jonathan Warns Buhari

President Goodluck Jonathan has
advised that the administration of
Gen. Muhammadu Buhari should not
consider scrapping the Presidential
Amnesty programme for ex-militants
in the Niger Delta region.
The Presidency cautioned that any
attempt to cancel the amnesty
programme would lead to crisis in
the region.
The Special Adviser to the President
on Niger Delta, Hon. Kingsley Kuku,
gave the warning while speaking
with journalists shortly after a
meeting to review activities of the
programme in Abuja.
According to Kuku, the Amnesty
Programme is a moral and not a
political programme.
“The presidential amnesty has
transformed and still
transforming lives. This is the
reason why we are meeting
today, reviewing the programme
vis-a-vis that fact that Dr.
Goodluck Jonathan our brother,
the president of this country
would be going back home after
successfully running a four year
term, having lost in the last
presidential election.”
“He would be going back home.
So, apprehensions are
everywhere, worries are
everywhere, what will happen to
the presidential amnesty
programme. The leaders are
asking questions, the followers
are asking questions.”
“So I keep interfacing. I keep
talking; we keep putting our
heads together. Today again, we
put our heads together and I have
assured them on behalf of Mr.
President and even on behalf of
the incoming government of
which I am not going to be a part
of. But I know the government
will be decent. I know what
decent government do all over the
world.”
Urhobo Militant Group Blows Up Gas Trunklines in Delta State

Urhobo militant group, Urhobo
Gbagbako , on Wednesday claimed
responsibility for two explosions
that occurred at two major gas
trunklines in Delta State.
Vanguard reports that the trunklines
belong to the Nigerian Petroleum
Development Company (NPDC),
located on the boundaries of
Afiesere and Ekredjebo
communities and Otedo and
Edjovwe communities both in
Ughelli North and Ughelli South
Local Government Areas of Delta
State.
Here is a statement released by
Urhobo Gbagbako spokesperson,
Priest Omodjuvwu:
These petty crumb eaters can only
cause pains to the NPDC,
Shoreline and the Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation,
NNPC, in a promised sham
settlement to the lingering crises
to these companies and
government agencies.
In believing the empty promises
of these evil doers and traitors,
you continue to slowly drive your
NPDC, NNPC and Shoreline into a
certain abyss you will never
recover from and we the Urhobo
nation will continue to demand
for our fair share of the pipeline
surveillance contract jobs for the
sake of equity and justice.
We, Urhobo Gbagbako, a militia
group of all ex-militants, youths,
women and elders of Urhobo
ethnic nationality, did not and
have not given any individual or
group, authority to speak on our
behalf on any issue as it concerns
the pipeline surveillance contract
job.
President General of Afiesere
community, Emmanuel Shikaleke ,
confirmed the incident, stating, “I
was called by officials of NPDC,
who had earlier come to assess the
level of damage on the trunklines
by the actions of the boys. For now,
there is nothing we can do other
than leave the matter for the
authorities to handle. As I speak
with you, men of the Nigerian
Army are at the scene to forestall
further attack.”

Fuel Scarcity: Federal Government To Pay Marketers N156bn Fuel Subsidy Claims
scarcity, The Federal Government,
yesterday, said it would pay
MOWAN N156 billion, out of the
about N256.2 billion the marketers
claim is owed to them in subsidy
claims.
Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi
Okonjo-Iweala made this statement
at the World Customs Day event
held in Abuja yesterday, expressed
optimism that the payment, which
is expected to be made today, will
help address the current fuel
scarcity plaguing the country.
According to her, the Federal
Government is committed to ending
the fuel scarcity within the shortest
time and that despite the revenue
challenges facing the government,
the issue of fuel subsidy payments
to oil marketers remain a huge
priority.
She stated further that “We have
been engaging oil marketers over
the scarcity issue.
We paid them N350 billion and
N31 billion in the foreign exchange
differential in December.
“Tomorrow (which is today), we
will be paying them N100 billion
for which we had earlier given
them IOUs, and interest rate
differentials of N56 billion.
I am about to sign to get that paid
and I think Nigerians will agree
that the government is making
good effort to accommodate the oil
marketers.
They are also Nigerians and they
also need to co-operate with us”.
The Minister of Information,
Patricia Akwashiki, stated that the
incoming administration of Gen
Muhammodu Buhari will not
inherit fuel scarcity immediately
because the country has enough
fuel in its reserves for almost 1
month, 27 days to be precise.
She said “I want to assure that we
have enough fuel to supply and the
problem is not that we do not have
fuel on ground. We have a problem
with the tanker drivers and that
has to do with the non-payment of
fuel subsidy claims But from
tomorrow (which is today), the
Coordinating Minister of economy
is going to start paying off some of
the liabilities we have in that sector
and it will ease off,’’.

FG Demands Return Of Corpse Of 4 Nigerians Executed In Indonesia

The Federal Government has asked
for the return of the corpses of 4
Nigerians executed in Indonesia
following drug related offences
yesterday April 28th.
In a statement released by the
Public Communications Division of
Ministry of Foreign Affairs in
Abuja, FG condemned their
execution and condoled with their
families.

Nigeria has received with deep
disappointment, news of the
execution of four Nigerians, Messrs
Martin Anderson, Okwudili
Oyatanze, Jaminu Abashin and
Sylvester Obiekwe by the

These executions have taken place
despite spirited pleas for clemency
made at the highest level by
President Goodluck Jonathan, and
more recently Ambassador Aminu

on April 21, during the 10th
Anniversary of the New Asian-

None Of The Rescued 293 Females Is From Chibok – Borno Govt
the 293 females rescued from
Sambisa forest yesterday April 28th
shows that they are from Damboa
local government and not from
Chibok as was highly speculated.
Speaking with newsmen in
Maiduguri today April 29th, the
state Commissioner for
Information, Dr. Mohammed
Bulama, say the rescued females
are from Bumsiri village in
Damboa Local government area
and were all kidnapped from the
village by the sect members.
“These girls and women rescued
are still our daughters as much as
the Chibok girls and we have to
commend the military for
liberating them, hoping that the
rest will equally be liberated.
Though everyone had thought they
were the Chibok girls because of the
hype surrounding the abduction of
the girls, but we should not lose
sight of the fact that they are as
important as the Chibok girls and
those that are still in captivity,
which we hope would be liberated
soon.
But at the moment, we are looking
up to the time the 293 women and
girls would be handed to us so that
we can begin the process of
rehabilitating and reintegrating
them back into the society.” he said

Buhari Must Probe Everyone Who Has Stolen Public Funds – APC Elders Council

The All Progressives Congress
Elders Council in Osun State have
implored President-elect
Muhhammadu Buhari, not to spare
anyone as he wages his war against
corruption.
The elders stated that Buhari must
compel all those who have pilfered
from the nation’s coffers, to refund
the monies into government’s
purse.
In a statement released in Osogbo
on Monday by their chairman, Sola
Akinwumi, the APC elders advised
that the anti-corruption war must
be fair and all-encompassing.
The statement read: “General
Buhari must wage total, unsparing
and forensic war against the cancer
of corruption which has eaten deep
into the public and private facets of
life in Nigeria.”
“Nigeria’s incoming president must
ensure that all those who have
contributed to the economic woes
of Nigerians through various acts of
sabotage, fraud, embezzlement,
misappropriation, misapplication,
white elephant projects and
outright stealing of public funds
must not only account for but also
refund the proceeds into the
coffers.”
“We call for a forensic anti-
corruption war using constitutional
and lawful mechanisms of the state
to enforce the existing statutes
without recognising any sacred
cows.
“Buhari must ensure that the war
covers both the APC and the PDP
and must be pursued to logical
conclusion in Nigeria’s public life.
This is the only way to justify the
mandate Nigerians, against all odds
erected on their ways, gave to our
party on March 28, 2015.”
“Decadence, corruption and
arrogance of power set in the
ruling party which began when the
prediction of ruling Nigeria for 60
years became their song.
We have never governed at the
federal level but now we are there.
As Nigerians have trusted us with
the mandate for the management of
federal power, we require high
level of carefulness, tact, wisdom
and humanity to justify the
confidence reposed in the All
Progressives Congress across the
country.”
Gov. Amaechi IntendsTo Buy A Court Injunction To Stop Wike’s Swearing In – PDP

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP
Rivers state chapter says the State
Governor Chibuike Amaechi and All
Progressives Congress, APC are
plotting to secure a Court
Injunction in Awka, Anambra State
to stop the swearing-in of Rivers
State Governor- Elect, Chief Nyesom
Wike on May 29, 2015.
This revelation is contained in a
Statement issued today in Port
Harcourt by Emma Okah,
Chairman, Media and Publicity
Committee of PDP Campaign
Organisation, Rivers State.
According to Okah, the plot is to
shop for and buy a judge outside
Rivers State who will agree to do
the dirty job since the judiciary in
the State has been paralysed by the
Amaechi administration.
The PDP further accuses Amaechi
and the APC of leaving no stone
unturned in planning to carry out
the Governor’s threat that he will
not handover to Chief Wike.
”However, in the face of this
provocation, the PDP urges the
people of Rivers State to remain
calm as their Gov-Elect will be
sworn in on May 29, 2015, as
ordained by God like his colleagues
in other States.
The wish of the enemies of Rivers
people to cause constitutional crisis
and chaos is not the wish of God
for Rivers State, noting that light
will surely triumph over darkness”,
the PDP statement concluded
Banks Use Female Marketers To Woo Senators, Reps-Elect

Commercial banks have sent
marketers, mostly females after
newly-elected senators and
members of the House of
Representatives in Abuja to open
discussions on investments and
other business deals.
The energetic, sweet-talking and
mostly female marketers, flooded
the International Conference
Centre, venue of an ongoing
induction course for the new
arrivals on Monday.
Investigations by The PUNCH
showed that the target of the banks
largely was to woo the lawmakers
to open accounts with them.
Some of the smartly dressed
marketers also offered loan
opportunities they claimed their
banks could guarantee with
“friendly repayment terms.”
Over 290 members of the House for
example, are newcomers, out of the
total of 360.
In the Senate, about 69 senators are
also newcomers, out of 109.
Findings showed that the marketers
started tracing the lawmakers since
Sunday night when Senate
President, David Mark, declared the
induction programme open at the
Transcorps Hotel, Abuja.
“They flooded the Congress Hall of
the hotel Sunday night.
“They didn’t give the lawmakers
breathing space, as they offered all
sorts of facilities (loans) and
seeking to maintain their
accounts,” a senior legislative aide
confided in The PUNCH on
Monday.
A member of the House earns
around N27.9m every quarter as
official allowance.
Presiding officers and other
principal officers receive higher
figures.
This excludes a monthly salary of
N1m.
Senators collect over N30m as
quarterly allowance and receive
higher salaries than their House
counterparts.
The PUNCH gathered that the
practice over time was for the
banks to compete among
themselves to attract as many of the
lawmakers as possible to maintain
the lawmakers’ accounts.
“In the end, many lawmakers get
loans in amounts ranging from
N50m to upward of N200m.
“They will be here for four years
and it is understandable that the
banks see this as a window for
quick returns,” one National
Assembly official told The PUNCH.
However, investigations indicated
that there were several cases of
lawmakers who failed to repay the
loans before the expiration of their
tenure, leading to disputes between
the two sides.
In 2011, a particular new
generation bank withheld the
severance packages of many
members and also seized their
assets, owing to failure to meet up
with their loan obligations.
One marketer, who gave her name
simply as Elina, told The PUNCH
that there was nothing wrong with
seeking for “investment
opportunities.”
She argued that being new in
Abuja, most of the members needed
information on sources of funding
to assist them in settling down for
the business of legislation.
“We know how it is; there will be
accommodation challenges.
“Some need funding for
transportation even before they get
their official votes for vehicles and
other support services.
“So, the banks are there to provide
these support services by way of
funding,” she added.
The National Assembly and its
bureaucracy, including the National
Assembly Service Commission, has
a total budget of N120bn this year.
The figure was a drop from the
N150bn it had enjoyed since 2007.

Man Rides Bicycle From Kaduna To Lagos To Thank Yorubas For Voting Buhari

A 35-year-old Kaduna-born cyclist
and supporter of the president-elect
Gen Buhari and Professor Osinbajo,
Mohammed Kabiru Jafaru, has
embarked on a bicycle ride from
Kaduna to Lagos to meet with the
vice president-elect, Professor Yemi
Osinbajo in Lagos State as a way to
show his appreciation to the
Yorubas for voting en-mass for the
Buhari-Osinbajo ticket during last
election.
Mohammed started his journey to
Lagos at exactly 6: 35am at the
palace of Sarkin Hayin Malam
Bello, Alhaji Kabiru Isa Gangarida
yesterday April 27th.
“I have decided to embark on this
journey to Lagos because I want
to go and thank Yoruba people
for their immense support and
contributions that led to the
victory of General Muhammadu
Buhari during the March 28
presidential election. The decision
to undertake the journey came to
my mind after analysing the
votes cast for Buhari by the
Yoruba people and after I
discussed my intention with my
immediate family and friends,
they encouraged me to go on the
journey.”he told journalist
The Real Reason Buhari Barred AIT (Must Read)

Security officials attached to
Muhammadu Buhari have barred
African Independent Television
(AIT) from covering the functions
of the president-elect till further
notice.
Buhari Clamps Down On AIT
The security team according to
Punch cited security reports and
ethical issues as reasons for their
action.
The directive which took effect on
Monday, April 27, was enforced
when members of AIT crew, who
were at the Defence House to cover
of a meeting between Buhari and a
visiting Cuban delegation, were
asked to leave.
Confirming this to Punch, the crew
said: Yes, we were told but we
cannot just leave; we have a job to
do. In any case, we have not been
officially informed about what we
have done wrong.
On why AIT was restricted from
covering functions of the president-
elect, Mallam Garba Sheh, the
director of press of the All
Progressives Congress Presidential
Campaign Organisation, noted that
security concerns informed the
decision.
He said: “AIT has been asked to
stay aside based on security and
family concerns. In addition,
General Buhari has decided that
they will have to resolve some
issues relating to issues of standard
and ethics.
“We will be talking with them to
try and resolve the matter but for
now, the station has been asked to
stay aside because, like I said, there
are some family and security
concerns.
“They have been asked to step
down their coverage until we
resolve the matter with them on
ethics and standards.”
In weeks building up the
presidential election, AIT was
criticized for airing a documentary,
“The Real Buhari” which x-rayed
the retired general’s past military
regime as one that become the first
to sentence a woman to death by
firing squad.
The documentary was described by
the All Progressives Congress (APC)
as a“fabricated and hate
broadcast” against its presidential
candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.
The National Broadcasting
Commission (NBC) also indicted the
African Independent Television
(AIT) and the National Television
Authority (NTA) for the airing
several documentaries which
maligned the image of
Muhammadu Buhari.

Common Lies Lecturers Tell Female Students In The Classroom

Universities including privately
owned institution lecturer engage
in different act. In some students
handbook under the title:
professional ethics committee code
of conduct for staff and students,
lecturer where advised”not
victimize student for sex, ethnic,
religious or personal reasons.
In same vein student where warned
not to offer money,sex,or other
enticement. In exchange for higher
grade or alternation/forgery of
record/document. nothing is
usually said on the punishment to
be meterd out on defaulting
lecturers .but emphasis is made on
student who is involved in any
kind of examination malpractice.
This thread is for us to share our
experiences or maybe a possible
way of overcoming it.wud just
mentioned few lies while you add
yours.
1: IF YOU SLEEP WITH ME YOU WILL
HAVE AN “A” IN MY COURSES: this
usually happen to year one female
student especially, lecturers tend to
catch them young. when lecturers
do this the tend to pave way for
some gehs wey don spoil from

Hate Campaign: Buhari Fights Back, Bars AIT From Covering His Activities

President-elect, General
Mohammadu Buhari may have just
started a revenge mission on the
African Independent Television,
AIT when, Monday, the security
men attached to him barred the
station’s correspondent, Bebei from
covering Buhari’s functions.
My Comment on this Issue:- AIT
threw all ethics to the wind during
the presidential campaign. They
should emulate Channels tv.
Pres. Jonathan Orders Immediate Release Of Report Of Forensic Audit Of NNPC Accounts
allegation by the spokesman of the
All Progressives Congress (APC),
Alhaji Lai Mohammed that officials
of the Federal Government are
engaged in “last minute looting of
the nation’s resources, rushed
privatization of key institutions
and hurried recruitment into the
public service”.
We also consider as most
unfortunate and uncharitable, the
suggestion by Alhaji Mohammed
that the Jonathan Administration is
trying to “tie the hands” of the
incoming government merely by
continuing to discharge its
constitutional responsibilities until
the end of its tenure.
The Jonathan Administration which
continues to do its best to ensure a
smooth and peaceful handover over
of power to the President-Elect,
General Muhammadu Buhari,
deeply regrets the unfairness and
combative frame of mind reflected
in Alhaji Mohammed’s statement.
President Jonathan has done his
best in the past five years to
discharge his constitutional
responsibilities for good
governance and effective
leadership of the nation.
Without any prejudice whatsoever
to the freedom of the incoming
administration to do as it pleases,
within the confines of extant laws
when it assumes office, the
Jonathan Administration will
continue to discharge its
responsibility to govern until May
29, 2015.
In continuing to fulfil the
obligations of his office however,
President Jonathan has not, and
will never condone any form of
unscrupulous conduct on the part
of state officials.
President Jonathan will also never
authorise any attempt to create any
problems for the incoming
administration as the APC
spokesperson, who ought to know
that the outcome of the March 28
presidential elections does not
imply a cessation of governance,
unjustly alleges.
As Alhaji Mohammed threatened in
his statement, the incoming
administration will be perfectly
within its rights to review all
actions of the present government
as it may deem fit.
We see nothing wrong with that.
After all, the present
Administration reviewed the
actions of previous governments on
assumption of office with resultant
benefits for policy and project
implementation.
President Jonathan is also deeply
concerned by the continuing
suggestions that his administration
still has anything to hide about the
unproven allegation that about $20
Billion is unaccounted for by the
NNPC during his tenure.
To lay the matter to rest, President
Jonathan in line with Section 7(2)
of the NNPC Act, has directed that
the full report of the PWC Forensic
Audit of the NNPC accounts be
released immediately to the public
so that all Nigerians will be
properly informed on the matter.

Buhari’s Victory, Not A Popular Mandate – Northern Statesman Says

Without minding that he hailed
from the same region with the
president-elect, Balarabe Musa, an
elder statesman has said Buhari’s
victory in the March 28
presidential polls does not reflect
the wish of the generality of
Nigerians.
He said an election won on a
shortfall of 42 million registered
voters isn’t a reflection of the true
will of the people. Only 28 million
of the total 70 million registered
voters took active participation in
the election.
The national chairman of the de-
registered Peoples Redemption
Party (PRP), said, Buhari has a
mandate but not popular, he
therefore wants the president-elect
to form a government which will
comprise all political parties.
The former governor of old Kaduna
state said, the only fortunate thing
about the just concluded polls is
that Nigeria is not divided despite
anxieties before the elections

Gen Buhari Signifies Interest To Probe Alleged Missing $20BN NNPC Money

President-elect Gen. Buhari has
signified interest to probe the
alleged missing $20 billion from
the coffers of the NNPC.
Speaking with APC members from
Adamawa state at the APC National
headquarters in Abuja today April
26th, Gen Buhari queried the
dismissal of Former CBN governor
now Emir of Kano Muhammad
Sanusi II who raised alarm over the
missing money.
“I heard that some people have
started returning money; I will not
believe it until I go and see for
myself.
Imagine a situation where the
former CBN governor who by God
‘s grace would later become the
Emir of Kano raised an issue of
missing billions of money, not in
Naira but in Dollars, $20 billion.
What happened, instead of

Patience Jonathan’s Personal Ambition Cost Us Defeat – PDP Chieftain

Bayelsa State publicity secretary of
the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr.
Osom Makbere, has said President
Goodluck Jonathan lost the March
28 presidential election due to
international and domestic
conspiracies.
Makbere, who is also a lawyer,
stated this in an exclusive
interview in Yenagoa on Friday.
He said the divisions in the PDP
fold and the overbearing attitude of
the President’s wife, Dame
Patience, also contributed to the
president’s loss.
Giving insight on the failure of the
President at the poll, Makbere said,
“History has stated that no failure,
defeat or loss is a product of a
single factor.
Jonathan’s loss could be blamed on
a multiplicity of interwoven causes.
“Jonathan was a victim and target
of international c*m domestic
esoteric codes and conspiracies.
On the international level, the
passage of the anti-gay legislation
led to criticisms and face-off with
the US, and the West.
“The strides made in the economic
sphere, especially domestic rice
promotion, calculated by the
Jonathan administration to flip
economic growth, and boost import
substitution, also negatively alerted
the West.
The shift to China for our railway
transformation, and recently, the
migration to Russia for arms and
ammunition to quelling the
insurgency also signalled to the
West that Jonathan had started
constituting a self-reliant and
dependent nation-state, a feat seen
too tall by the US and their allies in
the West.
“The aforesaid international factors
found room to flourish given the
obstinacy and impudence on the
part of Mrs. Jonathan.
The end result of her personal
ambition to plant ‘self-made’
governors triggered face-offs with
some governors.”
Makbere also opined that the All
Progressives Congress will perform
worse than the PDP at the centre.
He said, “I can tell you that this
APC will be worse than the PDP as
there is already imminent fear of
implosion.
“In Kano, for instance, the APC got
all 40 constituencies. This meant
that none of the PDP candidates
were popular enough to emerge
but, the PDP maintained their calm
and stoicism.
“We do not know what the APC
wants. Whenever they win, the PDP
congratulates them, but whenever
the PDP wins, the APC would
induce the election observers and
the electoral officers to call for a
re-run or cancellation. That is the
zenith of desperation.”
But Secretary, Bayelsa APC, Mr.
Marlin Daniel, said the statement
that APC would perform worse than
the PDP was misinformed and
unfortunate.
He said that APC parades men and
women of proven integrity and
impeccable track records of
performance.
He said, “It is obvious Nigerians
have seen the people in the APC.
The international community
knows the pedigree of people in
APC leadership. When you go to
states controlled by the APC you
will see what is on ground.
“The President-elect, Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari, is an
incorruptible man. So, for anybody
to say that APC will perform worse
than the PDP is a child’s talk, mere
campaign of calumny and
propaganda.
“APC is a revolution and nobody
can stop it. God’s hand is in this
revolution that is why the PDP lost
despite all the money they spent to
remain in power.”

Xenophobia: South Africa Angry Over Nigeria’s Decision To Recall Its Ambassador

South Africa has condemned
Nigeria’s decision to recall its
ambassador over a spate of attacks
against foreigners.
It called the step “unfortunate and
regrettable” and said it “would be
curious for a sisterly country to
want to exploit such a painful
episode”.
At least seven people have died
over a month of attacks on
foreigners and foreign-owned
property in South Africa.
Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini has
been blamed for sparking the
attacks with comments about
foreign workers.
Soldiers were deployed to
flashpoints last week to prevent
more violence.
Some blamed the attacks – which
centred on Durban and
Johannesburg – on unemployment
and poor political leadership.
Thousands were displaced, with
many Zimbabweans, Mozambicans,
Malawians and others returning
home and others taking refuge in
temporary government-operated
shelters.
‘Ongoing xenophobia’
Some governments complained that
South Africa was failing to do
enough to protect foreign nationals,
though it now insists it has quelled
the violence.
Nigeria has summoned Acting High
Commissioner Martin Cobham
along with Deputy High
Commissioner Uche Ajulu-Okeke.
“for consultation” over the
“ongoing xenophobia”, Minister of
Foreign Affairs Aminu Wali said in
a statement carried by media on
Saturday.
The statement acknowledges that
South African President Jacob Zuma
has condemned the attacks.
In its response, South Africa’s
Department of International
Relations and Co-operation points
out that “a government resorts to
such an extraordinary diplomatic
step to express outrage at actions or
behaviour of another government.
The statement says South Africa has
not blamed Nigeria “for the deaths
and more than nine (9) months
delay in the repatriation of the
bodies of our fallen compatriots” in
attacks by Boko Haram militants.
The statement insists that the South
African government and citizens
have been “decisive and
unequivocal in condemning and
rejecting the attacks on foreign
nationals” and insists that “through
our interventions, relative calm
and order has been restored”.
On Friday, President Zuma met
over 50 leaders of organisations
representing foreign nationals in
South Africa for talks about how to
avert any repeat of the attacks.
Next week, the South African
parliament is to be suspended to
allow deputies to press the anti-
xenophobia message in their home
constituencies.

Ahhh!! South Africa Shuns Jonathan, Says We Will Discuss With Buhari Next Month

South Africa has faulted the
decision of the federal government
to recall its high commissioners,
saying it would communicate
diplomatically with Nigeria when
Muhammadu Buhari becomes
president in May.
Recalling that it did not take a
similar action when many of its
citizens where trapped during the
collapse of a guest house at the
Synagogue Church of All Nations in
Lagos, it described the reaction of
the Nigerian government as
“unfortunate and regrettable”.
“The South African government
takes note that the outgoing
government of the Federal Republic
of Nigeria has recalled its acting
high commissioner to South
Africa,” read a statement issued by
Clayson Monyela, spokesperson of
the department of international
relations and cooperation.
“A government resorts to such an
extraordinary diplomatic step to
express outrage at actions or
behaviour of another government.
“We are not sure which actions or
behaviour of the South African
Government the Nigerian
Government is protesting.
It is only Nigeria that has taken this
unfortunate and regrettable step. If
this action is based on the incidents
of attacks on foreign nationals in
some parts of our country, it would
be curious for a sisterly country to
want to exploit such a painful
episode for whatever agenda.
“Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa
has just returned from Indonesia to
attend the Africa-Asia Summit and
the 60th Anniversary of the historic
Bandung Conference.
At no stage did the Nigerian
delegation present at that
gathering, express its intention to
formally raise the issue with the
South African side.
“South Africa remains committed
to a strong bond of friendship and
bilateral relations with Nigeria.
It is for this reason that when 84 of
our citizens perished on Nigerian
soil, we did not blame the Nigerian
Government for the deaths and
more than nine (9) months delay in
the repatriation of the bodies of
our fallen compatriots, or for the
fact that when these bodies
eventually returned, they were in a
state that they could not be touched
or viewed as required by our burial
practice.
“We will raise our concerns
through diplomatic channels with
the new administration that will
assume office in Nigeria next
month.”
In a manner that appears to be a
mockery of government’s handling
of the insurgency in the country,
the statement added that South
Africa has been able to bring the
xenophobic attack under control
and has been receiving support
from other African countries.
“Through our interventions,
relative calm and order has been
restored,” the statement read.
“We are encouraged by the
solidarity our country continues to
receive from other African
countries and the international
community.
“We shall also continue to support
and not blame the Nigerian
government as it battles to deal
with Boko Haram that continues to
kill many innocent civilians.
We hope that the more than 200
girls kidnapped by Boko Haram
will someday be reunited with their
families.”

2014, and was named the league’s
Most Valuable Player.
The 24-year-old previously enjoyed
success with Arsenal and
Hibernian, winning 13 trophies in
Britain before signing for Seattle.

“I worked hard last year but I am
surprised to be nominated and I
feel very appreciated,” said
Oshoala.
“This award is a very good thing
for women’s football,” Oshoala

“It can really help us by
encouraging other countries to
support their ladies more and treat
them the same way they treat the
men.”
The shortlist is completed by
Spain’s Verónica Boquete,
Germany’s Nadine Kessler and
Brazilian legend Marta, who joined
Oshoala in highlighting the award
as a sign that the women’s game is
growing globally.
“When I was younger I had to
overcome many things: I was the
only girl and I used to have to play
with the boys.
It was complicated and difficult.
It’s better today – the girls don’t
have the same difficulties being
accepted,” Marta said.
Mary Hockaday, controller of the
BBC World Service English said:
“The five shortlisted players
represent an incredible array of
talent and show the growing
strength of the women’s game.

8 Types Of People You Will Find In A Newspaper Joint

We all know that visiting a
newspaper joint is one of the most
interesting place to be at times coz
of some crazy people and their
hilarious persona over there. I have
visited so many newspaper joint
and here i am today to give you the
list of the types of people I’ve met
at the joint, grab your bottle of
orijin as you roll with me:
1 The Buyers
These are the categories of people
that are there to buy the newspaper
and get out of there in peace, the
gat no time to argue or exchange
words with anybody.
2 The Free-Readers
Without these sets of people in the
joint, then the joint is incomplete.
Their mission is to come and read
for free, at times you can even find
them at the joint before the arrival
of the vendor, the usually take 70%
of the population.
3 The Football Freaks
These sets of people are always easy
to recognize, all you need to say is
“Up Chelsea!!!”, that is their remote
control. if you love yourself, don’t
just badmouth their clubs or else!
you know the rest.
4 The Politics Freak
Barcanista, how far na temitemi1
how ur ministry? I’m sure the
people in the politics section will
understand why I’m hailing them.
Their persona in real life is the
same as their E-persona.
5 The I Too Know(s)
These are the sets of people i love
listening to whenever i visit the
joint, talk about football, they will
put mouth, talk about politics, they
are not left behind, talk about
celebrities, dem sabi all of them,
you will just be wondering if their
brain has been replaced with a
transistor radio.
6 The Confused Ones
The main reason why these sets of
people are always at the joints is
because of the crowd, they will
keep on stretching their necks like
giraffe just to see what others are
looking at. Then they will be like
“Uncle, shebi this is the Davido that
sang: I dey kill mosquito well
well?” And you will be like no be
only mosquito you kill, na
churcquito
7 The Arguers
These sets of people will never
believe or admit that they wrong,
what they believe is that all what
they are saying is the right one and
you can never convince them. They
can argue for several hours without
getting tired, you will even think
their argument will lead to fight
but it can never.
8 The Pick-pocketers
Hmmm. . . I hail ooo. . . One of
their quotes which i love most is
“Dem no be thieves but if dem pass,
something go lost” from that quote,
you should be able to define them.

Gen. Buhari (supposedly) reads riot act to family members
According to Daily Trust, Gen Buhari read the riot act to members of his family in Daura, Katsina state recently. A Family source said he gathered all his children and family members together and advised them to seek meaningful ways to make a living, stressing that no family member of his will enjoy any preferential treatment. He also told them that non of them is welcomed to Aso Rock if they are not invited, adding that the Villa is a place for serious minded people and not for idle family members.
Photos and profiles of the 4 Nigerians to be executed in Indonesia for drug trafficking
Martin Anderson: 50 year old Martin Anderson (above) was arrested in Jakarta in 2003 on a charge of possessing about 1.8 ounces of heroin and was accused of being part of a local drug ring. He had traveled to Indonesia on a fake Ghanaian passport and has been incorrectly identified as Ghanaian. He was sentenced to death in 2004. According to his lawyer, Kusmanto, who like many Indonesians uses one name, Mr. Anderson was shot in the leg during his arrest — a method the Indonesian police are sometimes known to use when apprehending a suspect — and remains bothered by the wound to this day.Silvester Obiekwe Nwolise, 47, Nigeria - Smuggling Heroin
He has been in poor spirits since being transferred to Nusakambangan Island for execution, Mr. Kusmanto said. Mr. Anderson has filed for a judicial review of his conviction and death sentence with the Supreme Court, but his lawyer said he feared the court would not consider the appeal until after he is executed. Such appeals can take six months to be heard, Mr. Kusmanto said. “Obviously we hope it’s sooner.”
But once in Pakistan, instead of a job, he got an offer to swallow some capsules – filled with goat horn powder, his wife, Fatimah Farwin, says he was told – and fly to Indonesia.
“They said they didn’t want to pay tax on it,” Ms. Fatimah said. “When he arrived at the airport in Jakarta, the police saw him – I don’t know how – they caught him and X-rayed him, and they found it and it was drugs.”
Arrested in 2001, Mr. Nwolise was convicted the following year of bringing 2.6 pounds of heroin into the country, and was sentenced to death.
During his trial, according to Ms. Fatimah, Mr. Nwolise had no translator, and his Indonesian lawyer could barely communicate with him. She said that a judge, through an intermediary, offered to sentence him to prison rather than death if he paid a bribe of 200 million rupiah, worth about $22,000 at the time.
“But he was just a poor courier. He didn’t have any money,” Ms. Fatimah said.
Ms. Fatimah, who is Indonesian, met Mr. Nwolise in prison in 2007, when she was accompanying a friend who was visiting another inmate. The two married later that year; they have since had two children, now 5 and 3, but she has not brought them to see him since they were infants. She has told them that their father is working in an office in another country.
In January, the Indonesian police accused Mr. Nwolise of running a drug syndicate from prison. No charges were brought, but Ms. Fatimah, who says emphatically that her husband is innocent of the accusation, believes it resulted in his being placed in the group of inmates now facing imminent execution.
“Some woman on the outside blamed him,” Ms. Fatimah said, referring to a police informant, “but when they came to his cell, they never found anything – never, never, never. He never had a trial and next thing, they wanted to execute him.”
Mr. Abashin readily agreed, but soon wished he hadn’t: The package contained nearly 12 pounds of heroin, and he was arrested after landing at Surabaya’s airport. Mr. Abashin, who was traveling on a false Spanish passport, contended he was duped.
He was convicted in 1999 and sentenced to life in prison, which was reduced to 20 years on appeal. State prosecutors challenged the sentence reduction before the Indonesian Supreme Court, which in 2006 sentenced Mr. Abashin to death.
In a request for presidential clemency in 2008, he admitted knowingly smuggling the drugs. The request was denied in January.
The Indonesian government refers to him as Raheem Agbaje Salami, the name on the fake Spanish passport he was using when he was arrested.
Ursa Supit, an Indonesian legal activist who is advocating on Mr. Abashin’s behalf, says that because he had no money, he was assigned a state lawyer for his trial and had no legal counsel when he appealed to the Supreme Court.
Mr. Abashin, who now has a lawyer, is challenging Mr. Joko’s rejection of his clemency request.
“He has been inside now for 17 years, and he has never broken a rule inside,” Ms. Supit said. “And now they are going to execute him. He’s never had money for lawyers. It’s not fair.”
Known in Indonesia’s penal system as “The Death Row Gospel Singer,” Mr. Oyatanze, 41, was arrested in 2001 while trying to smuggle 5.5 pounds of heroin through Jakarta’s international airport, in his stomach, after arriving on a flight from Pakistan. He was convicted the following year and sentenced to death.
Mr. Oyatanze has made the most of his incarceration, writing more than 70 songs and recording multiple albums behind bars. He has performed with prison guards as well as fellow inmates.
In the video, shot in 2008, Mr. Oyatanze sang his song “God You Know,” which was also the name of an album he released that year.
“He has turned his life around in jail,” said the Rev. Charles Burrows, a Catholic priest from Ireland who now lives in Indonesia and is offering religious counseling to Mr. Oyatanze as he awaits his execution.
Raised in outheastern Nigeria, Mr. Oyatanze started a garment business in 1999, traveling to Indonesia to buy clothing and resell it in Nigeria. The business collapsed, and Mr. Oyatanze, heavily in debt, traveled to Pakistan to try to revive it, at the suggestion of a fellow Nigerian living there.
The plan involved swallowing capsules of heroin before boarding a flight to Jakarta. “There was a chance to earn some easy money, so he became a courier,” Mr. Burrows said.
